Angelina Jolie has made a formal court request to change adopted son Pax Thien's surname to Jolie-Pitt.

Angelina filed the request for her son, who is currently called Pax Thien Jolie, to take lover Brad Pitt's surname at a Santa Monica Superior Court on April 16.
Angelina adopted three-year-old Pax - whose name means 'Peaceful Sky' - in March from a Vietnamese Orphanage she had visited with Brad several times before. Vietnamese law makes it hard for unmarried couples to adopt, so the actress applied as a single parent. Simon told 'American Idol' host Ryan Seacrest on his radio show: "We must address this crazy story that appeared that I rolled my eyes disrespectfully at Chris because he made the comment.

"The truth is that I had switched off at that point. I was saying to Paula, 'What does he mean he was singing nasal-y on purpose?' I didn't understand what he was saying.

"So I hadn't even heard what he'd said afterwards. And my eye rolling is what I was saying to Paula. I have never heard so much rubbish. "You know what, half of the time I can't hear what they are saying, and I don't think they can hear what I am saying."

Richardson had defended his performance, before he said: "My heart and prayers go out to Virginia Tech. I have a lot of friends over there. Be strong."

The camera then cut to Simon's seemingly insensitive look. The British music mogul has now commended Richardson for his comments. He said: "Chris was right to have said what he said because he is from that neck of the woods and if I would have heard what he said I would have responded properly to that.

"The irony was that we discussed this before the show and wondered, 'What do you do in a situation like this when something terrible happens? Do you ignore it?'

"Ryan Seacrest wanted to say something in the beginning, which I think was right. And I thought we should do something at the end to sort of close it. I wanted to say to the kids it was a difficult week for everybody."

Sir Elton John, Rod Stewart, Kanye West and James Blunt will perform at Princess Diana’s tribute concert.

The late Diana’s sons Princes William and Harry have invited a host of musical stars to appear at this summer’s Concert For Diana, including Meatloaf, Bryan Adams, Pharrell Williams, Orson, Joss Stone, Take That and Keane.

Elton, who sang at Diana’s 1997 funeral, said he was “thrilled” to be taking part.

Angelina Jolie is planning to adopt for the fourth time, it has been claimed.

The actress - who recently adopted Vietnamese son Pax Thien, and also has a Cambodian son Maddox and Ethiopian daughter Zahara - reportedly wants to adopt a girl from Chad to “balance the family”.

A source discussing Angelina’s family - which also consists of Cambodian son Maddox, Ethiopian daughter Zahara and Angelina’s natural daughter Shiloh with lover Brad Pitt - said: “Angelina and Brad want to make sure Zahara doesn’t feel alienated as the only black face in their family.

“She feels the children need a balance of faces in their life.” Angelina is said to have fallen in love with a one-year-old girl from Oure Cassoni and asked her lawyers to begin the adoption process.

Rod Stewart and Penny Lancaster are to wed on an Italian island. The rocker and his fiancé are believed to have chosen the romantic setting of Capri, just off the Italian coast, as a venue.

The pair – who are set to tie the knot in mid-June - have been engaged since Rod proposed at the top of the Eiffel Tower in early 2005.

They had previously considered several other locations for their nuptials, including Provence in the South of France, and a Scottish castle.
