Rhys Ifans has reportedly spent a staggering £35,000 on a birthday present for girlfriend Sienna Miller.

The ‘Notting Hill’ actor has commissioned exclusive French jewellers Boucheron to make a one-off yellow diamond necklace for Sienna’s 26th birthday on December 28.

A source at Boucheron’s London store said: “Rhys originally wanted to buy a ring for Sienna’s birthday but he doesn’t want to make her feel too pressured and a ring would scare her.

“Sienna loves vintage jewellery and is a fan of yellow diamonds, so he has been talking to the Paris-based jewellers about a drop look of three yellow diamonds.”

Lindsay served just 84 minutes of her 24 hour jail sentence for DUI at Los Angeles County's Lynwood Jail last week (15.11.07).

The 21-year-old actress was sentenced to the mandatory minimum of four days in jail after pleaded no contest to two DUI charges. Prosecutors agreed to reduce this to just two days if she served 10 days of community service.
She had already served one day after the authorities gave her credit for the time she spent in custody following her July arrest.

Lindsay was also placed on three years probation and must complete an 18-month alcohol education programme as part of her plea bargain.

Paul said: "I'm really amazed and very happy that the guitar went for so much and for such a great cause."

The successful bidder announced he would donate the guitar to London's Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Ronnie Wood's guitar went for £11,000, while Pink Floyd star Roger Waters' Wall-themed instrument sold for £10,500.

The guitar themed on former Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash fetched £8,500.

Meanwhile, Paul has backed a campaign to stop the closure of his local post office.

The 65-year-old musician has used the Liverpool post office in Lower Heswall, the Wirral, since 1964 and he is determined to save the "vital part of local community life".

His brother Mike read out a statement outside the shop, which said: "This village post office is a vital part of local community life and as such should be saved for future generations to cherish.

"Its 100-year history should not be cast aside lightly. I agree with thousands of local people who feel that everything must be done to save it. Please help!"

Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page recently hinted the band would play more shows to cater for the millions of fans unable to get their hands on tickets for their upcoming concert.

He said: “It's a bit selfish to do just one show. If that's it, we probably shouldn't have taken the genie out of the bottle."

The band – which also includes lead singer Robert Plant and bassist John Paul Jones – have reformed for a tribute concert to the late Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun, who signed the group.

Dennis Quaid’s newborn twins are fighting for their lives after being given an accidental drug overdose.

Thomas Boone and Zoe Grace – who were born to a surrogate mother on November 8 – are currently in intensive care at Los Angeles’ Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where Dennis and his wife Kimberley Buffington are keeping a bedside vigil.

The tiny tots were mistakenly given 10,000 units of the anti-coagulant Heparin - which stops the blood from clotting - but babies are only allowed to have 10.

The error happened because a technician made a storage mistake and a nurse failed to check a label.

Dr. Michael L. Langberg, Cedars-Sinai's chief medical officer, said: "I want to extend my deepest apologies to the families who were affected by this situation. This was a preventable error, involving a failure to follow our standard policies and procedures, and there is no excuse for that to occur at Cedars-Sinai."
