Helping art navigate the culture wars

Terry Gilliam’s Into the Woods

Borkowski managed publicity and offered senior counsel to Scenario Two on their production of Into the Woods directed by Terry Gilliam.

Story

Initially the key aim of the job was to defuse media attention around the production’s forced change of venues, a response to earlier polemic comments by Gilliam widely perceived as an act of ‘Cancel Culture’.

When the production transferred to the Theatre Royal Bath, Borkowski ensured, through detailed planning, careful selection of powerful and trusted media channels, and robust, mutually-respectful media relations, that the production’s story was able to evolve beyond the initial controversy into a discussion about Gilliam and Scenario Two’s artistic vision.

Breaking the story of the show’s move to Bath through The Times and New York Times, Borkowski then placed key establishing features on BBC News – with a story that premiered as one of the lead items on ‘News at Ten’- The Daily Telegraph, the Sunday Times Culture and PBS Newshour to create momentum behind the production and establish a positive narrative focused on the production.

Following a highly successful run at the Theatre Royal Bath, Into the Woods has now been strongly tipped for a 2023 West End Transfer.
