Story
Being Blacker was a special film in two ways: firstly, it marked celebrated film maker Molly Dineen’s comeback after 10 years; and secondly it brought to light the untold story of one of the country’s biggest characters - and a lightning rod for every social issue that divides Britain along racial lines: Blacker Dread.
Borkowski’s task was to ‘cushion the landing’ of Being Blacker’s broadcast on BBC 2 by publicising a limited cinematic run to create buzz around the film, its characters, and the issues it raises. We did this by targeting major features which took both Molly and Blacker beyond the television pages, and into news and features, and also by leveraging Blacker Dread’s incredible life story to reach black media, music media and South London media.
