Advising Universal in its £1.2bn acquisition of EMI

Universal Music Group

We helped UMG to seed targeted corporate stories particularly through the EMI acquisition deal, the largest merge in music industry history, advised on reputation and crisis management and re-tooled ideas for traction outside of the traditional media.

Story

Beyond our advisory role, we led separate projects around the label’s classical music business resulting
in the seeding of a classical music meme hailed as a ‘revolution’ by Independent Arts Editor, David Lister.

The projects included the rolling out of Yellow Lounge, a classical club night worldwide, the alternative proms at the Bristol Old Vic with Tom Morris and the promotion of Daniel’s Barenboim’s world-spanning event “Beethoven for All”.

We also helped to position CEO Max Hole as a thought leading industry figure for his groundbreaking work in anti-piracy strategy and digital distribution.
